This study was to examine the relationship between the type of learning motivation and life satisfaction among older adults who join in the continuing education program through analyzing data of 201 elderly respondents. Most of the respondents were septuagenarian women, but activity-oriented type of learning motivation was found as the strongest motivation for their joining in the program. Also, the activity-oriented type was a significant predictor for their life satisfaction such as sense of achievement, self-esteem, and sense of satisfaction with present life. The findings were discussed in the context of developing educational programs for the older adults who might have different needs in the future, such as the oldest-old group, the group of higher educational or SES level, and so on.
